Among the various ARPGs currently on the market, Path Of Exile series should be regarded as one of the largest and most content-rich. Even though the recently launched POE 2 is still in the early access stage, you can still experience extremely rich combat content through it.
When you fight in POE 2, you not only need to rely on the various skills provided by the selected basic class, but in fact Ascendancy is also very important-it can provide you with 2 sub-classes, broaden your combat methods, increase your chances of winning, and give you the opportunity to farm POE 2 Currency in a single battle more quickly than in the past.
However, in order to unlock Ascendancy mechanism, you need to complete the corresponding Path Of Exile 2 trials, and these trials require you to complete the pre-tasks before you can proceed. Based on this, this time we will introduce you to the quest Ascent To Power that needs to be completed to unlock Ascendancy sub-class.
How To Start Ascent To Power?
First of all, you need to know that this quest is located in the second act of POE 2. After successfully entering the second act, you need to unlock Ardura Caravan to explore two location nodes. After that, before continuing to the third node called Traitor’s Passage, you will meet an NPC named Zarka. After talking to her, she will ask you to find Balbala, the Djinn trapped in the third node to gain more power.
Because of the special map mechanism in POE 2, the location where Balbala appears is random, but basically it will not exceed the final intersection of Traitor’s Passage. After that, you need to find Ancient Seal Door to enter Balbala The Traitor’s prison, then remove the three seals and wait for the cutscene to end. You can officially enter the boss battle.
How To Beat Balbala The Traitor?
The boss is characterized by being able to resist fire damage well while causing you three types of damage: physical, chaos and fire, and her attacks can also cause poisoning and ignition.
So if you want to defeat her in this boss battle, on the one hand, it is best to make your attacks mainly cold damage, and on the other hand, you can buy POE 2 Chaos Orbs on hand to exchange for some weapons and armor that can resist the damage type she outputs.
Although Balbala’s attack pattern is not complicated, knowing some tricks in advance can effectively improve your combat efficiency and save time so that you can complete the task as soon as possible. Therefore, we will introduce you to some of her main skills and how to deal with them.
1. Slash Attack
This attack type belongs to Balbala’s regular attack. Although it will reduce your health, it is also easy to block or dodge, or if you have an energy shield, it can also be effectively blocked. It should be noted that you must avoid the slash attack while preventing damage from other dangerous attacks that may cause burns or poisoning.
2. Whirling Dash Attack
After using this skill, the boss will damage you by dashing forward, and release AOE damage that will explode after 1.5 seconds while moving. You can’t stop her from using this skill, but you can dodge it in advance, because Balbala will say “Face Me!” or “Na’kai” as a line to warn you before launching the attack.
3. Summon Poison Mist/Vanish
If Balbala uses this skill in battle, she will disappear shortly afterwards and shout “Visions of Jarah!” or “Mists of Sulamith!”, and then a poison mist will emerge from the hole in the middle of the arena. You need to find the boss quickly and attack her to cancel the channeling to resolve the crisis.
And in order to find her faster, it is best to circle the arena counterclockwise from her last appearance. Once found, Balbala will shout “Sands of Wrath!” or “Darakatha!” again and hit you with an AOE attack. All you need to do is try to dodge.
4. Summon Shadow Clone
This attack allows the boss to throw Barya (coins) in the arena randomly, creating a pale yellow area that you need to cross to prevent Balbala from summoning replica, which will give her the opportunity to teleport and slam attacks.
5. Explosive Blade Rain
After launching this skill, the boss will start throwing a fan-shaped wave of explosive daggers at you. These weapons will fall from around Balbala in a counterclockwise and conical pattern. For this reason, you need to be careful and move in the opposite direction to dodge successfully.
6. Blade Storm
If Shadow Clone is not killed correctly, Balbala will use this skill to summon a devastating storm composed of multiple rotating blades that is enough to cover the entire arena, making it difficult for you to dodge. Therefore, you need to kill Shadow Clone to prevent this disaster quickly.
How To Complete Ascent To Power?
When you successfully defeat Balbala, besides the possible Exalted Orbs, the boss will also drop Balbala’s Barya as one of the loot drops. After picking up and bringing the item to Zarka, Zarka will tell you where to complete Trials of the Sekhemas.
Once you defeat Rattlecage, the Earthbreaker in this trial, you can interact with the altar located here to choose your Ascendancies. Although each POE 2 class has two Ascendancy to choose from, you can only choose one as your sub-class, and the result of the choice cannot be changed, so please be careful.
Although the entire process is a bit complicated, it is still worth it to unlock Ascendancy to help you fight. Therefore, I hope you can complete Ascent To Power task as soon as possible according to the above guide, so that you can upgrade your sub-class to a sufficient level before entering the endgame. Thank you for reading.
